Your vehicle ownership permit (the “green slip”). This is the original paper ownership document — not a photocopy, not a screenshot. The back of the form needs to be signed and completed before the transfer can happen. If you’ve misplaced it, contact ServiceOntario to request a replacement before we come out.

Valid government-issued photo ID. Your Ontario driver’s licence or a Canadian passport both work.

Your license plates removed before pickup. In Ontario, plates belong to the registered owner — not the vehicle. Take them off before we arrive. Once the car is gone, return the plates to a ServiceOntario location to cancel your registration. If there are unused months on your plate sticker, you may be eligible for a partial refund.

After the pickup: Cancel your auto insurance on the vehicle and confirm with ServiceOntario that your registration has been updated and your name is no longer associated with that VIN. You can do a VIN lookup through the ServiceOntario portal. If you’re still showing as registered owner 30 days after the pickup, contact us, and we’ll confirm the MTO notification on our end.
